I've finished yet another Sulam Cabut which I call 'Cabut Pagar'...
I used blue-grey satin saluna for this Baju Kurung to match with its Indonesian Batik skirt...
The basic technique is similar to Cabut Kipas but the embroidery technique itself is much simpler than Cabut Fadly or Cabut Kipas. The embroidery technique is called 'needleweaving' in certain European countries. I used three strands of DMC stranded cotton, and stripping each floss before combining them again and start doing the needleweaving.
If you look at the embroidery closely, this design is pretty much look like our traditional balustrade...
The finishing detail is two rows of feather stitches; similar to Cabut Kipas. I tried triple feather stitch but double feather stitch look more original and more beautiful.
Phew! Hope my client'll like the outcome. :)
